SoCal Harvest is a new volunteer organization in Long Beach, established to allow home gardeners to share extra produce with needy local families. Food pantries often offer only processed foods because of their easy storage and distribution. However, SoCal Harvest, a program of Food Finders, now collects fresh produce from home gardens and backyard fruit trees as a healthier alternative for food bank clients.
